It’s so easy to become weary and distracted by the cares of life. Life can be so busy and demanding. And without realising it we can lose sight of what’s most important – eternity with God. It’s all about eternity!
2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
But we see from the verse above that God wants us to focus on eternity. He wants us to remember that this life and all its cares are just temporary. Ultimately it will fade away. The only thing that won’t fade away is eternity.
So what does this mean for us? It means that we need to develop an eternity perspective. This perspective reminds us that we are only passing through this world. It is not our true home. Our true home is with God in Heaven and our eternal inheritance awaits us there.
HOW DO WE DEVELOP AN ETERNITY PERSPECTIVE?
- Invest deeply in your relationship with God. Spend time daily with God and build a rich prayer life.
- Study the word of God so that you have a strong foundation on which to stand.
- Invest your time and resources into building the Kingdom of God.
- Take every opportunity to share the gospel wherever you can.
Keeping an eternity perspective helps us keep our focus on God. In this way, we will be able to throw off the distractions of life and its cares and worries. These things can so easily entangle us and throw us off course and keep us from fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives.
So let’s keep our minds fixed on God and eternity, run this race with all we have, and finish strong!
