FULFIL YOUR CALLING!

An image of a man with a dog begging

As believers, we know that Jesus is coming back soon and that we need to be prepared for the rapture and His return.  But what should we be doing while we wait for this? Jesus reminds us in the word that we are to keep serving God faithfully as we await His return.  In other words, fulfil your calling and faithfully do what God has called you to do.

Matt 24:40-52 illustrates this clearly. Jesus speaks of a master who leaves his home and puts his servants in charge while he is gone.  He says the servants that are blessed are the ones who stay busy, doing the work the master has left for them.  When the master returns home and finds them busy he is well pleased with them and rewards them.  But woe to the servants who don’t do this.  They are punished by the master of the house.

DILIGENTLY AND FAITHFULLY PURSUE THE CALLING GOD HAS GIVEN YOU

As we start a new year, I want to encourage you to diligently and faithfully pursue the calling that God has given you.  Remember, that as Christians we are all called to love others and reach the lost.  The way in which we reach the lost may look different for each of us.  Some of us may have opportunities to reach old people in homes, for others we may reach school kids in school.  Some of us will help those who are struggling with food.  Others will teach the Bible.  It doesn’t matter how we reach the lost, it only matters that we do!

I want to encourage you then as we start this year with 3 things:

  • Love God with all your heart and invest deeply in your relationship with God.  Prioritise time to read your Bible and pray.
  • Love others and look for ways to serve them with God’s love.
  • Take every opportunity to reach the lost.

We have no idea when Jesus will return and when we will be raptured.  However, in this final hour as we await His return let’s be determined to be faithfully fulfilling God’s calling and to be busy with the Father’s work.  When He returns may He find each one of us hard at work in His Kingdom!
