TRUST IN THE LORD

Life is full of unpredictable twists and turns.  Sometimes we’re cruising along and all is going well. At other times we hit turbulence and face some rough waters.  The only constant through the wonderful highs and challenging lows of life is Jesus.  But to remain firm and strong in Him we’ve got to trust in the Lord.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

TRUSTING IN THE LORD HELPS US STAND FIRM

I received this verse from the Lord as a teenager. I was still just starting out in my relationship with God and learning to trust the Lord.  This verse has helped me through many seasons of hardship and uncertainty when the path ahead wasn’t clear.  And in my day-to-day living when the obstacles and challenges come it helps me to remain firmly anchored in the Lord.

I recall a time when we drove home one evening and ran out of petrol along the way.  It was dark and we were feeling concerned about our safety.  As we sat there our little daughter became very worried and anxious.  I had just started praying and was encouraging her to trust the Lord.  I’d no sooner said this when a man in a towing vehicle stopped and towed us free of charge to the nearest petrol station.  We’d barely been stuck for 10 minutes before God sent help. What a powerful reminder that was to us that we can always trust the Lord!

This verse in Proverbs is one I have stood on for many years. The reason that this verse has had such a powerful impact on my life is because it immediately helps me to realign my focus. It helps me to stop focusing on whatever challenge I’m facing. I change my perspective and begin to focus on the Lord. As I do this, I remember that with my God all things are possible and that His arm is not too short to save me.

May I encourage you today no matter what set of circumstances you’re facing to commit to trust the Lord.  And as you do this your perspective will change and you will be filled with faith and hope knowing that God is more than able to meet you where you are and deliver you today!
