HOW DO WE WALK IN GOD’S PEACE?

It’s so easy to fall into anxiety and stress in this world.  The day-to-day concerns of life can be heavy. They often leave us feeling weighed down and weary.  Never mind the constant barrage of bad news from the media.  Yet, as believers, we know that God has called us to live a different way.  He has called us to walk in His peace.  But how do we walk in God’s peace despite our circumstances?

Isaiah 26:3 says, ”You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

POSITION YOURSELF CORRECTLY

The key action words in this verse are stayed and trust.  Let’s take a deeper look at these words now.  According to the dictionary, the word “stayed” means to remain in a specified state or position.  This verse tells us to keep our minds “stayed” on God.  Therefore, we need to remain in the position of keeping our minds fixed on God.  To this, we add trusting God.

As I pondered this verse I wondered how to apply it practically to my life.  We can do this by finding Bible verses that we can memorize and meditate on.  Some encouraging verses are Psalm 46:1, Isaiah 40:31, and Philippians 4:6.  Take Bible verses and stand on them during the stressful, challenging moments of your life.  And don’t forget the power of worship.  Fill your heart and your mind with music that will lead your heart and mind to God.

As you do these things you will find that your mind becomes fixed on God and your trust in Him will deepen.  Then you will feel God enfolding you in His perfect peace.

I just want to encourage each one of us to fix our minds on God and to trust Him deeply even as we navigate the stresses and challenges of life.  Let’s keep walking in God’s peace!
