When you become a Christian it’s the start of an incredible transformation.  It’s a life-altering moment because we are taken from the kingdom of darkness and brought into God’s kingdom of light.  And it’s the start of an incredible journey of co-operating with God as He leads us. As we do this He transforms us more and more into the image of Jesus every day.  But for this to happen we need to live a surrendered life!

Ephesians 4:22 says, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

We live in a world where it’s rare to hear a message about the need to turn from sin. And yet this is the very message we need to hear and put on the new man we are in Christ.  Instead, we hear many messages about how God loves us unconditionally without ever hearing that we need to turn from sin and our sinful lifestyles when we come to Him.  There has to be a transformation in our lives when we become Christians! And this can only happen when we are willing to surrender ourselves to following God’s ways.  

WALK IN THE SPIRIT

This means that daily we need to live in surrender to God and be willing to follow His ways instead of our flesh.   It’s about remembering that Jesus is not only our Saviour but He is also our Lord and our lives need to be marked by obedience to Him.  And yes God indeed enables us to do this through the power of the Holy Spirit, but we also need to co-operate with Him through the decisions we make daily.

Surrendering our life to God results in a truly victorious life. It means that we commit to following His ways in this life. It’s a hard choice and it’s not always easy putting off the flesh. However, ultimately it brings an incredible harvest of life into our lives. Let’s choose to surrender ourselves to God as never before!
