It’s so easy to walk in fear, isn’t it? Any number of things can take us right there in the blink of an eye. A health crisis, unexpected financial issues or relationship woes are just some of the things that can leave us feeling worried and afraid. But when you read the Bible, you see the recurrent message, “do not fear”! Let’s look at how we can walk without fear.
Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
1. GOD IS WITH US
Firstly, when we look at the verse above we are told why we should not fear. It’s because God is with us (“so do not fear, for I am with you”). This is so important. When we come to crisis moments in our life and fear is pulling hard at us we need to remember who is standing with us.
The God of the universe stands with us and His power is completely unlimited.
Luke 1:37 says, “For with God nothing shall be impossible”.
This is such a critical truth to remember. No matter what we face in life God is with us always and His help, grace, mercy, love and compassion abound to us at all times. Sometimes, He will bring breakthrough and release us from the situation we’re facing and other times He will give us the grace we need to persevere in the situation. Whichever way, He is always working things together for our good and we can trust Him.
2. HE WILL STRENGTHEN US AND HELP US
When the hard seasons come, it’s so easy to become dismayed and fall into despair. For me personally, it’s so easy to slip into despair when a couple of things go wrong at once. It can leave me feeling overwhelmed and in despair if I’m not careful.
So the most important thing to do in these seasons is to keep our heart’s attitude right. We do this by reminding ourselves of the truths of God’s word – that He is with us and for us and is ultimately working everything together for our good.
And then it’s important to remember that God’s grace is abounding to us to strengthen us and help.
So today, I just want to encourage each one of us that no matter what we are facing, God is with us, He is for us and He is ultimately working it all together for our good. Let’s trust Him!
