Sometimes when we read the Bible we look at the great heroes of our faith (like Moses and Paul, to name a few) and are tempted to think that somehow they must have been extraordinary people to be used so mightily by God.  But just the opposite is actually true.  The people God used in such extraordinary ways were in fact ordinary people just like you and me. 

Exodus 40:16 says, “Moses did everything just as the Lord commanded him”.

When we look at the life of Moses we see that God used him mightily in delivering the Israelites from Egypt.  However, Moses was not a perfect man and he didn’t have a perfect past either.  He struggled with insecurities and doubts just like you and I do.  He was afraid of public speaking and had even committed murder in the past.  And when God commissioned him to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt he accepted that commission with reluctance.

However, despite all of this God used Him in incredible ways for two reasons.  Moses was obedient to God and faithful to do what He had called him to do.  Remember that God loves to use the weak, the ordinary, the unexpected to showcase His power.  All He needs is a person who is surrendered to Him and willing to be obedient and faithful.  

Now take a moment to think about yourself.  Is there something God is calling you to do? Be obedient and faithful to Him and watch how He will do extraordinary things through a life surrendered to Him!
