These four Minor Prophets each proclaimed God’s message to His people and the nations, weaving together warnings of judgment with promises of mercy.

📌 Hosea

God commands Hosea to marry an unfaithful wife as a living picture of Israel’s spiritual adultery — and of God’s relentless, redeeming love that pursues His unfaithful people.

📌 Joel

Using a devastating locust plague as a warning, Joel calls the people to repentance and points to the coming “day of the LORD” and the promised outpouring of God’s Spirit on all people.

📌 Amos

A shepherd called to prophesy, Amos confronts the social injustice and empty religion of a prosperous but corrupt Israel, calling for justice to “roll down like waters.”

📌 Obadiah

The shortest Old Testament book pronounces judgment on Edom for its pride and violence against Judah, affirming that God will ultimately establish His kingdom.

🔴 The Scarlet Thread of Redemption — Jesus Revealed in Hosea, Joel, Amos & Obadiah

These prophets point to Jesus as the redeeming Bridegroom and the Lord who pours out His Spirit.

📌 Redeeming Love

Hosea’s redemption of his unfaithful wife foreshadows Christ’s redeeming love for His people. “Out of Egypt I called my son” (Hosea 11:1) is applied to Jesus in Matthew 2:15.

📌 The Outpoured Spirit

Joel’s promise that God will pour out His Spirit on all flesh (Joel 2:28-32) is fulfilled at Pentecost (Acts 2).

📚 Key Scripture

“But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” — Amos 5:24
