Can you remember a time in your life when you received good news?  For our family, it was the time we sold our house within a week of listing it.  We desperately needed to sell it as we were in deep water financially.  Selling it was good news indeed! The Bible brings some very good news too. When Jesus was born, an angel heralded his birth with these words from Luke 2:10 that says, “But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people”.  The gospel is good news because by receiving Jesus we are reconciled to God and we receive everlasting life.  That is good news indeed!

Before Jesus ascended to Heaven He gave us the Great Commission instructing us to share the gospel wherever we go.  All too often though it’s too easy to see this as a duty we need to perform. Instead, we need to understand that this is not about us at all.  It’s all about Jesus and sharing this gospel which brings life and hope!  The truth is that the more deeply we know and love Jesus the more deeply we will carry His heart.  His heart is to reach the lost and when we love Jesus passionately we will have the same heart for the lost.  Instead of seeing the Great Commission as a burden, we will see it as the immense privilege it is.  God is bringing His kingdom and inviting us to partner with Him. 

Let’s pray and ask God to help us to know Him and love Him more deeply than ever before.  As we do this we will begin to share His heart and passion to reach the lost.  And ultimately, this will drive us to share the gospel more passionately than ever before.
