We live in a fast-paced world. Technology often makes it possible to find what we need quickly. As a result, we often find waiting frustrating. However, when you look at the Bible you realize that waiting on God is integral in our walk with Him. We have to learn to trust God’s timing!
Lamentations 3:25-26 says, “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; 26 it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
It’s so tempting when a situation arises to just jump in and try to sort it ourselves. This applies to both challenging situations and also exciting new seasons in our lives. It’s all too easy to run ahead of God and try to solve things ourselves.
We see this in the story of Abraham and Sarah. God promised them a son but when it didn’t happen as quickly as they hoped they jumped in with their own solution and things became complicated. However, in God’s perfect timing He sent them the son He had promised – Isaac!
We need to understand that God calls us to live a different way. He wants us to be still and seek Him first. He wants us to wait on the Lord with a heart of faith as we seek Him for His leading. Then when He directs us and opens doors we can walk through confidently with faith knowing that we are walking in God’s way.
Let’s commit ourselves to waiting on the Lord and moving according to His timetable. He knows at all times what is best for us and when things need to happen in our lives. We can trust God’s timing!
