๐Ÿ”ด The Scarlet Thread of Redemption โ€” Jesus Revealed in the Pentateuch

The Scarlet Thread of Redemption runs through every book of the Pentateuch, pointing forward to Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of every promise, covenant, and sacrifice.

๐Ÿ“Œ Genesis โ€” The Seed Promise

God promises that the seed of the woman will crush the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15). This is the first prophecy of Jesus Christ โ€” the Saviour who would defeat sin and death. The Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12:1-3) sets the stage for God’s blessing flowing to all nations through Jesus.

๐Ÿ“Œ Exodus โ€” The Passover Lamb & Deliverer

Jesus is our Passover Lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7). Just as the blood of the lamb protected Israel from the angel of death, so the blood of Jesus protects us from eternal death. Moses the deliverer is a type of Christ, the ultimate Deliverer from sin (Hebrews 3:1-6).

๐Ÿ“Œ Leviticus โ€” The High Priest & Perfect Sacrifice

All the sacrifices of Leviticus point to Jesus, who is both the perfect sacrifice and our eternal High Priest (Hebrews 9:11โ€“10:14). The Day of Atonement (Leviticus 16) foreshadows Christ dying outside Jerusalem to carry away our sin (Hebrews 13:12).

๐Ÿ“Œ Numbers โ€” The Rock & the Bronze Serpent

The rock that gave water in the desert is Christ (1 Corinthians 10:4). The bronze serpent lifted up in the wilderness foreshadows Jesus lifted up on the cross (John 3:14-15). Only Joshua (whose name is the Hebrew form of “Jesus”) โ€” not Moses โ€” could lead Israel into the Promised Land, picturing that salvation is by grace through Jesus alone.

๐Ÿ“Œ Deuteronomy โ€” The Prophet to Come

Moses prophesies: “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you” (Deuteronomy 18:15). Peter and Stephen confirm this prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus (Acts 3:22; 7:37). Jesus fulfils all the law so that He could say on the cross, “It is finished” (Matthew 5:17; John 19:30).

๐Ÿ“š Key Scripture

“For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me.” โ€” John 5:46
