We go through different seasons in life. Sometimes, life goes along smoothly with few bumps in the road. Then suddenly out of the blue, we find ourselves facing devastating trials. They can even feel like a tsunami that will take us out. So what should our response be when the storms of life come?
In the Bible, we see the story of Job. He went through a season of devastating trials that could have destroyed him. So why didn’t they? Let’s look at how Job positioned himself immediately after receiving devastating news.
Job 1:21 says, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”
And Job 13:15 says, “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him”
Isn’t that an amazing response? At a time when he was feeling absolutely gutted and devastated he fell to his knees and worshipped God.
That’s such a powerful response because when we worship God we take our eyes off the situation and focus on Him. This brings a shift in our perspective and helps us to remember that what we’re facing is not bigger than the God we serve. He is our mighty shield and is more than able to bring us through in great victory.
And then later in Job, we see this verse in Job 13:15 which showed that Job set his heart to keep his hope in God no matter what.
I want to encourage each one of us today when trials come to position ourselves before God in worship and faith. As we do, it will help us shift our focus onto Him and remind us that He has got us. His grace and strength abound to us and He will see us through!
