We go through times in life when everything is busy and life feels hectic and overwhelming. Often we feel like we’re running from one thing to the next without enough time in the day to get everything done. All of this can just leave us feeling stressed and incredibly weary. So what should you do when you are weary?
Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
THE ANTIDOTE TO FEELING WEARY
The antidote to feeling weary and buckled under stress is very simple. Jesus invites us to come to Him with faith and to surrender our burdens and stresses to Him.
Yet all too often too many of us overlook this and continue staggering under our burdens and the stress of life.
Let’s always remember what Jesus promised us in John 10:10: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”.
Through Jesus, we have the promise of an abundant life. This refers to eternity with God but also to this life, we are living on Earth. An abundant life doesn’t mean prosperity and everything working out exactly as we want. Rather, it means that we have God’s presence, love, direction and peace with us at all times. It means that no matter what we face or go through we have the assurance of our Father’s love and know that He will work all things together for our good.
But it all starts with us responding to Jesus’ invitation to come to Him with our burdens and stress. If we do this then we will walk in the abundant life He promised and His peace will cover our hearts and minds.
Will you come to Jesus with your burdens today?
