Life is often full of seasons that are busy and chaotic. It can leave us feeling like we’re simply running from one thing to the next. Frantic seasons like this can often leave us feeling weary and exhausted. Yet, God invites us to come to Him and be refreshed amidst all the chaos. He invites us to be still.
Psalm 46:10 says, “He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
What an incredible comfort and hope we have from this invitation. God invites us to sit quietly in His presence and be still before Him. And as we do this He quietens our hearts and minds and fills us with His peace. He enfolds us in His love and fills our hearts with hope once again.
So how do we do this? We simply need to be very intentional about setting aside time with God daily so that we can be still and be refreshed. It’s tempting in busy seasons just to rush from one thing to the next but that’s how we burnout and become weary. Therefore, we need to prioritise our time with God every day.
And finally, remember that as we are still before the Lord He realigns our perspective. It’s so easy for us to get bogged down by the cares of life particularly when life is busy. But spending time with God causes us to have a shift in our focus. We are reminded that our God is bigger and more powerful than anything we face on this earth. Our hearts are filled with faith and hope once again and we strengthened.
Will you make time to be still before the Lord this week?
