We live in a world where all too often it feels like people are focused on themselves and promoting themselves in every way. The message we so often hear is that we need to make ourselves happy, look out for our own interests and showcase ourselves. Yet, the Bible teaches us just the opposite. It’s truly a case of more of Jesus, less of me!
John 3:30 says, “He must become greater, I must become less”.
The context of this verse is that some of John the Baptist’s disciples came to him. They were concerned becaue Jesus was baptising people and all the people were going to Him. They were upset because in their eyes it seemed that John was losing his influence and status to Jesus. But, John fully embraced Jesus and His ministry. He reminded them that Jesus must be greater than him and that he (John) must become less.
IT’S NO LONGER I THAT LIVES
This is such a powerful reminder to every one of us believers today. It’s a reminder that we don’t belong to ourselves and live for ourselves anymore. We belong to Jesus and the entire focus of our lives must be to showcase Him and glorify Him in our daily lives.
Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
So as you start this new week, pray and trust God to help you glorify Him in all you do and say and most especially in how you treat others. Always remember, that your life may be the only Bible someone will ever read. Let’s reflect Jesus to others and glorify Him!
