Faith is central to the life of a believer.  Indeed, faith in God is a strong thread woven throughout the Bible. As Christians, we know that we can only come to God by faith.  And we know that we must live and by walk.  What we need is faith like a mustard seed!

Matthew 17:20 says, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

OUR GOD CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS

Sometimes, we think that we need to have mountains of faith. And when we don’t, it can leave us feeling like we’re falling short.  But Jesus said we only need to have faith like a mustard seed.  

A mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds.  Yet, it grows into a very large shrub. Think about the seeds of a vegetables for a moment. Each one contains incredible potential.  In my own garden, I experienced this recently.  I planted a few pumpkin seeds and have reaped a bountiful harvest of big pumpkins.  It’s been so exciting to see what has grown from just a handful of seeds.

So, too the same is true for us.  If we come to God with just the faith of a mustard seed, He is able to do the most incredible things in our lives.  As we come with faith, His unlimited power is unleashed in our lives.  As a result, He is able to do far beyond anything we could ever ask for, dream of or even imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

An amazing example of this can be seen in the life of Abraham.  He believed God and received what God promised Him by faith.  As a result, salvation became available for everyone through His bloodline.  And all this because He simply responded to God with faith.

Let’s trust God then to help us have faith as a mustard seed and to grow in faith.  As we do we will see God move in the most incredible ways in our lives!
