Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed when we see the state of this world and all that’s happening. Natural disasters, human suffering and bad news dominate our news channels. It can leave us feeling completely overrun and defeated.  Yet God’s word reveals a different truth.  We carry the light of Christ in this world that brings victory and hope. We truly can shine in the darkness!

John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”.

The other day I needed to slip into the grocery store. As I stood waiting at the bakery the lady who served me was a Christian. What a powerful encounter this was! In every part of the encounter she reflected Jesus and truly she shone so brightly for Him. I left there feeling so encouraged and as I walked away, I realised that the darker this world gets, the more God’s children will shine for him. We don’t need to fear the state of this world because it will be a platform to shine brightly for Jesus!

WE ARE AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST

Today, let’s remember that Jesus is the light of the world.  He lives in us through the Holy Spirit, and so we too are light in this world (Matt 5:14).  No matter how dark things look, or how uncertain things feel, we know that Jesus is the light and has overcome this world (John 16:33).  

May our hearts be encouraged that even in dark times, we carry the light of Christ that can lead others to Him.  We are ambassadors for Christ and every day we represent Him in this world. We may actually be the only Bible some people will ever read!

So, let’s press in deeply into our relationship with God and stay connected to Him so that we can represent Him well, and lead others to Him!
