We live in a world that tells us to put ourselves first. We’re encouraged to focus on our own wants and desires. Yet, when we listen to God’s voice, we hear a completely different message. It’s all about living a life surrendered to God.
Luke 6:46 says, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
LORDSHIP AND OBEDIENCE
Without a doubt, we know that God loves us and has a plan and a purpose for our lives. However, we need to be careful not to buy into the lies of false teaching. Following God is not about having God give us our every desire. It’s not about Him giving us health, wealth and prosperity. In fact, we are called to come and lay down our lives. We are instructed to take up our cross and follow Jesus. It’s all about surrendering ourselves to God and following Him in obedience as our Lord.
This means that we obey God when we don’t feel like it and even when we’re tired. We obey Him when it’s not comfortable for us, and even when its inconvenient. We do this because at the end of the day He is Lord and we need to obey Him.
Jesus gave His all for us on Calvary. And because of this, we are now redeemed and reconciled to God. A life surrendered is a life lived in obedience to the lordship of Jesus. Let’s live surrendered lives in response to His incredible love for us!
