As Christians, we know that we are engaged in a spiritual war against the Devil.  This is because when we were born again, God transferred us from the kingdom of darkness to His Kingdom of light.  As a result, we are now enemies of the Devil.  But, we have the incredible promise and assurance that God is our deliverer, no matter what situations we face in life.

Psalm 34:19 says, “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all”.

GOD IS OUR EVER PRESENT HELP

We can see some simple, yet powerful truths from the verse above.  Firstly, we will have troubles in this world.  Sometimes, we can mistakenly believe that when we become Christians, our lives will run smoothly and be problem-free.  This is not true at all.  In fact, just the opposite is true – we become enemies of the Devil.  As a result, we know that we will face attack, hardship, fiery trials and even persecution.

Jesus Himself told us this in John 16:33 which says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Yet, the story doesn’t end here.  The rest of the verse in Psalm 34:19 says, “but the Lord delivers him from them all.”  So the second thing we learn is that God is our deliverer.  This gives us immense hope and comfort as Christians.  Though trials and hardships will be part of our walk, God has not left us alone.  He is with us in every situation we face and will ever face.  And not only is He with us, but He comes with all His power to help us and deliver us.

What an incredible truth this is! May our hearts be encouraged deeply today as we remember that our God is our deliverer!
