Life is full of ups and downs and we often get a curveball when least expecting it.  This is true for everyone.  But as believers, we have the incredible joy of knowing that God is our rock no matter what we face! 

Psalm 62: 2 says, “He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken”.

If you’re feeling weary today and knocked down by the trials of life, be encouraged!  God has not left us to try and navigate this life alone.  He is our ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).

GOD IS OUR IMMOVABLE ROCK

As we look at this verse, be encouraged with these truths today.  Firstly, God is our rock.  When you think of a rock you think of something that is immovable and strong.  This is what God is to us through our trials.  He is utterly immovable.  And when you trust in Him and stand on His word by faith you too will find yourself standing strong.

GOD IS OUR SALVATION

Secondly, the verse says God is “my salvation”.  One of the definitions of the word salvation is “preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin or loss.  Wow! What an incredible assurance this is to us as we walk through trials.  God is reminding us that because He is our salvation He will preserve us and deliver us from harm.  That’s an awesome truth to stand on.  

GOD IS OUR FORTRESS

And finally, in this verse, God is called “my fortress”.  In the Bible, “fortress” indicates a place of protection and safety.  A fortress is strong, and not easily penetrated. Therefore, it’s the best place for defence and security.  This is what God is to us as believers.

So today, as you face the particular trials of your life, be encouraged.  You are not alone.  God is with you, He is your rock, your salvation and your fortress.  Stand on the truth of His word and walk in it!
