LOOK UP!

Look up! An image of person looking up into the sky

Have you ever just felt overwhelmed by all the things you need to do? Sometimes it can feel like we have more pulling at us than we can manage. Other times we make progress but at a snails pace.  Consequently, this just leaves us feeling frustrated, stressed and ultimately discouraged.  In times like these, it’s easy to give in to defeat.  But God brings the victory when we look up!

Isaiah 26:3-4 says, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.”

I recently read a quote from Corrie Ten Boom, the Dutch missionary who suffered the horrors of a concentration camp for her faith.  She said the following:

“If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed.  If you look within, you’ll be depressed.  If you look at GOD, you’ll be at rest”

This quote is so powerful and left a lasting impact on me.  Sometimes, without realizing it we shift our position from trusting in God to trusting in ourselves.  And when we look within and try to get things done without trusting God we become depressed and discouraged.

It’s so important then that we keep ourselves in a position of trusting God.  When we do this it’s exactly as Isaiah 26:3-4 says – He keeps us in His perfect peace and we can be at rest.

Let’s remind ourselves that yes, we need to do our part each day, but we must trust God and not rely on ourselves.  God’s got each one of us. He has already made a way for us.  Our job is to be faithful in our daily lives and above all, trust Him with all our hearts! Always, look up!
