Let’s face it, the Christian walk is full of times of waiting. And we’re certainly not alone in this. The Bible is full of examples of people who had to wait to see the fulfilment of the things they prayed for. A prime example of this is found with Hannah who desperately longed for a child. She waited and prayed fervently for a child. God answered her prayer in His time, Samuel was born to her, and God used him mightily as a prophet. It was a miraculous answer to her prayer. In addition, it can also make you think about what your response should be while you wait for your prayers to be answered.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint”.
STAND FIRM IN FAITH
The verse above speaks about waiting. However, it does not mean a passive type of waiting where we just sit on our hands waiting for things to change. Instead, it’s an active waiting with a heart full of faith knowing that God will move in His time. We can wait with faith because we know our God’s character and trust His timing. We know that He is for us and not against us (Romans 8:31) and that His plans and purposes for us are good (Jeremiah 29:11).
Then during the season of waiting, we need to be worshipping God and thanking Him for the victory that will come. We may not see it yet, but by faith, we know it will come.
Seasons of waiting can be hard, yet when we wait with faith trusting God’s plans and timing for our lives we will see the breakthrough. Let’s commit to wait with faith and worship God while we are waiting so that God can refine us and shape us in these waiting seasons. Let’s learn to wait well!
