We live in a turbulent world. There’s much uncertainty, stress and struggle. This is especially true for those of us in South Africa who are currently dealing with an energy crisis. At times all the stresses of life can leave us feeling very anxious and overwhelmed. That’s why it’s so important for followers of Christ to keep an eternity mindset that will help us stay focused on the hope we have in Christ.
1 Peter 1: 3-6 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.”
IT’S NOT ABOUT NOW
When you are born again you have a living hope as it says in the verse above. This means that you have the hope of salvation and being with God in heaven for all eternity. What an incredible hope this is! And it helps us to have an eternity perspective. This means that we understand that life on Earth is just temporary. What truly counts is all eternity with God. So while we are living on this earth we need to see everything through this lens. We need to keep our focus on eternity and the hope we have in Christ.
Ultimately, this should just drive us to go deeper in our relationship with God and to have a passion to reach the lost with the gospel. Because the only thing we can take to Heaven with us is people!
So let’s run this race with all our might, invest deeply in our relationship with God and reach the lost with every opportunity we have!

AMAZING GRACE

I listened to a message recently about how we shouldn’t swear as Christians. What the speaker was saying was 100% true. Indeed, foul and coarse language shouldn’t be part of how we speak as Christians. But what really struck me was the focus she brought. She laid a strong emphasis on how we need to…

GOD IS OUR DELIVERER

As Christians, we know that we are engaged in a spiritual war against the Devil. This is because when we were born again, God transferred us from the kingdom of darkness to His Kingdom of light. As a result, we are now enemies of the Devil. But, we have the incredible promise and assurance that…

A LIFE SURRENDERED

We live in a world that tells us to put ourselves first. We’re encouraged to focus on our own wants and desires. Yet, when we listen to God’s voice, we hear a completely different message. It’s all about living a life surrendered to God. Luke 6:46 says, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and…

HE KNOWS MY NAME

One of the most amazing truths of our faith is that our God is a personal God. He loves us deeply. He knows us completely. Every part of our lives is important to Him and we can entrust everything that touches our lives to Him. What a joy to know that he knows my name!…

RELY ON GOD

When we become Christians, we start a brand new life in Christ. And it’s important to realise that God has given each one of us a purpose. There are good works that He has prepared for us to do. The key to this, however, is to realise that we must rely on God! Ephesians 2:10…
